For the second time this year, I find myself rooting for the Univ. of Florida in a championship game.

I'm not proud of this because I really don't like anything about the University but given that they are playing the only other true evil in NCAA athletics, the Ohio State University, I feel I have no choice but to root for them.

I am hopeful that as in football, Florida crushes the Buckeyes and sends their fans home crying.

So Go Gators!

1 Week Until Opening Day!!

The Tigers roster is almost set with the last major group of cuts today! No real surprises I guess other than Shelton getting sent down but you had to figure that was coming unless he had a great spring. I have high hopes for the Tigers this year but have a feeling they missed their window of opportunity unless someone new steps up like Zumaya and Verlander did last year. The AL Central is too tough of a division to win I think and they'll be fighting it out for the Wild Card again and hopefully they get lucky.

Leyland says he'll have his final roster set by the end of the week but here is the latest.

Here is something to wet your appetite!

March 26th, 1997. Red Wings vs Avalanche.

A day I will always remember as a Detroit sports fan. The day the Red Wings got their manhood back by getting revenge on Claude Lemeiux and the Avalanche for the dirty hit on Kris Draper the year before. It is alot of people's feeling that the Wings wouldn't have gone on their Stanley Cup run if it weren't for this game.

After getting manhandled by the New Jersey Devils in the Finals and then being beaten up by Colorado the following year, this game was necessary for the Wings to come together and prove they could play a rough and tumble game and stand up for themselves. Hard to believe that it was little Igor Larionov who got things started in this game by going after Forsberg which then gave McCarty the chance to go after lemeiux and then for the goalies to go at it. It was a classic game and I'm sure most Detroiter's won't forget it for a long time.
